AIIEA asks Centre to withdraw LIC Amendment Bill
MADURAI: The All-India Insurance Employees Association has asked the Centre to withdraw the proposed LIC Amendment Bill (2009) and Insurance Law Bill, failing which it would go on agitation.
The amendment foresees permits raising the FDI limit in the insurance sector, AIIEA General Secretary K Venugopal said.
Every year, Rs 2.5 lakh crore is mobilised as premium by Life Insurance Corporation and this was the savings of people and it was going to be placed in the hands of foreign capital, where even the government would have less control, he told reporters here last evening.
The Standing Committee of Parliament on Finance, while submitting a report on the LIC Amendment Bill, 2009, had said the sovereign guarantee on LIC policies and surplus distribution of shares to policy holders should continue.

மதுரை, ஆக. 28: வெளிநாட்டு நிறுவனங்களை அனுமதித்தால் நம் நாட்டின் பொருளாதாரம் பாதிக்கப்படும் என அகில இந்திய காப்பீட்டுக் கழக ஊழியர் சங்க பொதுச்செயலர் கே. வேணுகோபால் தெரிவித்தார்.
காப்பீட்டுக் கழக ஊழியர் சங்க, மதுரைக் கோட்ட 55-வது பொது மாநாட்டை ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை தொடங்கிவைத்து அவர் பேசியதாவது:
அமெரிக்கா, ஐரோப்பிய நாடுகளில் பொருளாதார வீழ்ச்சி ஏற்பட்டபோது, இந்தியாவில் அதன் பாதிப்பு அதிகமில்லை. இதற்குக் காரணம், நம் நாட்டில் மக்கள் சேமிப்பு பழக்கம் உடையவர்களாக இருந்ததே. இந்த சேமிப்பில் காப்பீட்டுக் கழகம் முக்கியப் பங்காற்றி உள்ளது.
அமெரிக்க காப்பீட்டு நிறுவனங்கள் மக்களுக்கு அதிகமாக கடன் அளித்துள்ளன. கடனை திரும்ப வசூலிக்க முடியாத நிலையில் அவை நஷ்டமடைந்தன. இதுவும், பொருளாதார வீழ்ச்சிக்கு காரணம்.
அமெரிக்கப் பொருளாதாரக் கொள்கை தோல்வியடைந்த நிலையில், அந்நாட்டு நிறுவனங்கள் நமது நாட்டிற்கு வர அனுமதிப்பது சரியல்ல. நாட்டில் 26 சதவிகித அன்னிய நிறுவன முதலீட்டுக்கும் அதிகமாக அனுமதித்தால், நமது நாட்டின் பொருளாதாரம் பாதிக்கப்படும்.
வெளிநாட்டு நிறுவனங்கள் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டால், நமது நாட்டு வங்கிகள் அவர்களது கட்டுப்பாட்டுக்குள் செயல்படும் நிலை ஏற்படும். அது நல்லதல்ல. உலக அளவில் சீனாவிற்கு அடுத்தபடியாக மக்கள் தொகையில் மட்டுமல்ல, காப்பீடு செய்வோர் எண்ணிக்கையிலும், இந்தியா இரண்டாவது இடத்தைப் பெற்றுள்ளது. இத்தகைய நிலையில் வெளிநாட்டு காப்பீடு நிறுவனங்களை அதிகளவில் அனுமதிப்பதை எதிர்க்க வேண்டும்.
வெளிநாட்டு காப்பீடு நிறுவனங்களை அதிகமாக அனுமதிக்கும் பிரச்னையில், பொதுமக்களது கருத்தை திரட்டவேண்டியது அவசியம். இதற்காக முக்கிய இடங்களில் இயக்கம் தொடங்கப்பட உள்ளது.
வங்கி உள்ளிட்ட அனைத்துப் பொதுத்துறை நிறுவன ஊழியர்கள் சங்கங்களும் இணைந்து போராட நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படுகிறது.
கடந்த 50 ஆண்டுகளாக நாட்டில் ஊழல் அதிகரித்து வந்துள்ளது. அதற்கு காரணம் பொதுத்துறைகளில் தனியார் நிறுவனத்தை அனுமதித்ததே ஆகும். தனியார் நிறுவனங்களுக்காக அரசியல் அதிகாரம் தவறாக பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது என்றார்.
கூட்டத்தில் மார்க்சிஸ்ட் கம்யூனிஸ்ட் அரசியல் தலைமைக்குழு உறுப்பினர் பிருந்தா காரத் சிறப்புரையற்றினார். சங்கத்தின் மதுரைக் கோட்டத் தலைவர் ஜி.மீனாட்சிசுந்தரம் தலைமை வகித்தார். தெற்கு சட்டப்பேரவை உறுப்பினர் ரா.அண்ணாதுரை, மார்க்சிஸ்ட் மாநிலக்குழு ரா.ஜோதிராம் மற்றும் பா.விக்ரமன், க.சுவாமிநாதன், கோட்ட பொதுச்செயலர் என்.சுரேஷ்பாபு, எல்.பழனியப்பன், ஆர்.கே.கோபிநாத், முத்துகுமாரசாமி, தமுஎச மாவட்டநிர்வாகி ப.கவிதாகுமார் உள்ளிட்டோர் கலந்துகொண்டனர். தீர்மானங்கள்: மாநாட்டில் பொதுத்துறை பங்கு விற்பனை நடவடிக்கையை கைவிட வேண்டும்.எல்.ஐ.சி. முகவர்களின் குறைந்தபட்ச வணிகநிபந்தனைகள் உள்ளிட்ட முகவர்களின் நலனைப் பாதிக்கும் ஸ்வரூப் கமிட்டி பரிந்துரையை கைவிடவேண்டும். எஸ்.சி.எஸ்.டி.ஊழியர் நலன்களுக்கு உத்தரவாதம் அளிக்கவேண்டும். கல்வி, சிறு வணிகத்தில் அன்னிய முதலீட்டை கைவிடவேண்டும் என்பன உள்ளிட்ட 38 தீர்மானங்கள் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டன.

மசோதாக்களை திரும்ப பெறக்கோரி வேலை நிறுத்தம் எல்.ஐ.சி., ஊழியர்கள் முடிவு
மதுரை : ""எல்.ஐ.சி., தொடர்பான மசோதாக்களை திரும்ப பெறாவிட்டால் வேலை நிறுத்தம் செய்வோம்,'' என அகில இந்திய காப்பீட்டு தொழிலாளர் சங்க தேசிய பொதுச் செயலாளர் வேணுகோபால் கூறினார். மதுரையில் அவர் கூறியதாவது: காப்பீட்டு துறையில் 80 சதவீத ஊழியர்கள் அமைப்பில் உள்ளனர். எல்.ஐ.சி.,யின் சொத்து மதிப்பு ரூ. 13 லட்சம் கோடி. 38 கோடி பாலிசிதாரர்கள் உள்ளனர். இந்த ஆண்டு அரசுக்கு ஈவுத் தொகையாக எல்.ஐ.சி., ரூ. 1137 கோடி வழங்க உள்ளது. இந்த அமைப்புக்கு கடந்த 4 மாதங்களாக முழுநேர தலைவர் இல்லை. பாலிசிதாரருக்கு வழங்கும் போனஸை குறைப்பது, பாலிசிகளுக்கான உத்தரவாதத்தை திரும்ப பெறுவது என்ற 2 மசோதாக்கள் லோக்சபாவில் தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன. மேலும் 26 சதவீத அன்னிய முதலீடு 49 சதவீதமாக உயரும் வகையில் மற்றொரு மசோதாவை அரசு அறிமுகம் செய்துள்ளது. இவற்றை வாபஸ் பெற வேண்டும். இல்லையெனில் நாடு தழுவிய ஒரு நாள் வேலை நிறுத்தம் செய்வோம். வலுவான லோக்பால் அமைப்பு வரவேண்டும். இதில் என்.ஜி.ஓ.,க்கள் பெரிய முதலாளிகள், கார்ப்பொரேட் அமைப்புகளும் உள்ளடங்கி இருக்க வேண்டும், எனக் கூறினார். கோட்ட பொதுச் செயலாளர் சுரேஷ்குமார், தென்மண்டல உதவி பொருளாளர் ஆர்.கே.கோபிநாத் உடனிருந்தனர்.

Strong need to fight neo-liberal economic policies: Brinda Karat

In the name of deregulating the economy, corporates are given a free ride and there is a strong need to fight against these neo-liberal economic policies which are being pursued by the United Progressive Alliance Government at the centre, said Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member, Communist Party of India (Marxist).
Delivering the special address at the 55 {+t} {+h} Divisional Conference of the Insurance Corporation Employees Union in Madurai on Sunday, Ms. Karat appreciated the role of the members of union in voicing social causes especially their role in bringing down the infamous ‘untouchability wall' in Uthapuram.
Recalling the late Communist leader B.T. Ranadive's words that, when Marx wrote in the Communist Manifesto that “Workers of the World Unite,” it was not male workers of the world unite but both male and female workers, she pointed out that the Madurai LIC employees association holds the unique record of being the first in India among the insurance employees associations to have a sub-committee of women
Ms. Karat said that the two bills which are to be passed during this session, Life Insurance Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2009, and the Insurance Laws (Amendment) bill which aims to increase the Foreign Direct Investment from 26 per cent to 49 per cent are detrimental to the Indian economy.
India was able to avoid the global economic crisis because of the robustness of banking and insurance sector and life insurance in particular which stood as shock absorbers. The increase in FDI would be a disastrous move and could as well destabilize the economy, she added.
Employees Union had to take the protest forward and mobilise public opinion on this issue. Campaigns such as LIC employees union's historic signature campaign where they got one crore signatures are necessary, she said. K. Venugopal, General Secretary, All India Insurance Employees Association, Baby Joseph, joint secretary, K.Swaminathan, General Secretary of South Zone Insurance Employees Federation also spoke at the conference.
